I don’t know how it makes me feel. Studying something people perceive as having no career, something that is “just a hobby” and not a real job. What encouraging words, right? I guess they’re not wrong. Not many people do actually make it in the art world. Many just have it as a side job and that perfectly okay, but what if I wanted more? How does one so-called “make it” in the art world? Is this even something I actually want to do or have I just put so much into it that I feel I can’t back out? Is it both? Don’t get me wrong, Art, you amazing and inspiring and it makes me so excited to learn new techniques and ways of doing things in Photoshop, but what happens when I learn all the tricks? How do you keep the excitement in something you know everything to? The professors at school tell...

Dear Games Workshop, I picked up my first Warhammer models in 2004, not by choice, but because my boyfriend at the time wanted to play and wanted my help to paint his new Bretonnia army. I liked painting the Pegasus Knights, but my involvement with the game started and ended there, though not necessarily by choice. The problem was that whenever I walked by the store, fascinated by the models and trying to pick an army for myself, I was either flatly ignored or asked if I was looking for a present for someone. I was young and less assured of my place in the "geek tribe" and the message employees and patrons of the store gave out was loud and clear, this wasn’t a game for girls. Years later I met my partner was reintroduced to Games Workshop through his love of the Warhammer 40k...

Dear Indian Media, Have you ever heard of fact-checking? It's something that I took the time to do before writing one of my previous open letters, Not Buying What You're Selling: An Open Letter to Hrithik Roshan. The opening paragraph of that open letter applies to this letter, too. As an Indian-American who's diligently followed online articles about Kangana Ranaut (and Hrithik Roshan) for the past two years, your complete inability to fact-check never ceases to amaze me. I just read yet another pathetic excuse for an article, entitled Here's why we don't believe Kangana Ranaut's claims that she lost an award to Soha Ali Khan, written by Sreeju Sudhakaran for Times Now and "updated" on Dec. 20, 2017. Hilariously, this article says, "let's state some facts," so let's go through...

I have been a comic book fan since I was a child; not always as immensely as I am now but in one form of another I loved the worlds that were created. When Marvel first started creating their universe with the first Iron Man film my second thought after "holy crap that was Nick Fury they must have more stuff planned." was "I can't wait to see what DC does to compete.". For years nothing really happened and than Man of Steel came out and that fire in me was ignited in hope that this was a sign of things to come. Unfortunately what came next was nothing that should of been green lit, with the exception of Wonder Woman. Now when the first logo appeared for Batman v Superman i believed it was going to be a team up because that specific logo of Superman's crest inside of Batman's logo is on a...

You may have heard, the new actor for Doctor Who will be a woman for the first time. It now happens everywhere, if you critizise this, because its a male character for you and you simply dont want this to be changed, that you're labelled as a sexist. Its impossible to argue and the BBC deletes, as long as this is in their power, the negative Reviews of it. But we have power, and we are not the minority (just look at the Youtube ratings of the introduction clip... Ghostbusters? Anyone?). So here is my advise to everyone, who dislikes a female Doctor Who: DONT WATCH IT! JUST DONT! It will soon be over if the ratings are low. In Fact: The only reason why they do it, is because of the low ratings in the last seasons. Just dont support them! Make Doctor Who small again! The show...

I am sorry your world has been turned upside down in this new age of social outrage. It isn't quite fair. The playing field is not level. Although I am not a gay man, I have lived in San Francisco, Palm Springs and Laguna Beach. Over the years I have been approached, groped, kissed, dry humped, hugged inappropriately and propositioned by friends, acquaintances and church members. It would make the scenarios described by your accusers seem benign in comparison. When the other person realized that I did not feel the same way and was not gay, the inappropriate behavior ended. Usually after the unexpected advance, the relationship turned awkward, but the advances ended. There are a few friendships that have lasted and my gay friends continually joke about flipping me. In a...
