On the surface, Adventure Time is colorful, uses spunky diction, has pleasant characters, and is bite-sized. You can watch it with your mind shut off and have plenty to chew on but if you watch it with with your mind wide open, you begin to realize the wondrous underbelly of this immensely mindful iceberg. That same bite-sized, 11 minute episode, reveals it’s intention, lessons, and innocent outlook on our pre-Great-Mushroom War world. Not to sound like the Dos Equis guy, but I don’t always watch TV. I stopped watching the news many, many years ago when I realized that they only exposed the worst in humanity. Then, most TV shows, cartoons included, seem to all share the same playbook, where the flawed protagonist gets antagonized by characters who are often heavily cynical, negative,...

Dear Hollywood, When I was younger, I remember watching some of my favorite Disney Channel shows like That’s So Raven, Lizzie McGuire, Hannah Montana, and Wizards of Waverly Place. I remember watching these tv shows on Disney Channel, seeing countless of actors and actresses that I admired. However, as I grew older, I have come to notice and realize that there were not many actors and actresses who were Asian or Asian-American. I felt that no one was representing my race or culture; I felt left out. If there were any Asian actors and actresses that I saw in tv shows or movies, they would only play the one dimensional, stereotypical roles: the geeks, nerds, foreigners, etc. The only Asian character I felt that I could somewhat relate to an extent was Mulan, a Chinese female heroine, who...

Dear Mr. Rizwan Siddiquee, Although I'm of Indian ethnicity, I was born and raised in America, so today, I'm going to exercise my American right to free speech. I'm also going to exercise my human right to have and voice my opinion. Therefore, I want to make it very clear that the aforementioned statements are facts, but the rest of my letter will be composed of my opinions. (By the way, the above paragraph was how I also began my open letter to Hrithik Roshan, which was published on April 29, 2016; it was entitled, "Not Buying What You're Selling: An Open Letter to Hrithik Roshan." Please read it if you haven't done so already). I hope you realize that Hrithik Roshan LIED in his official police complaint, which was recently leaked to the media and discussed by "India's top...

To everyone whose been alive within the past week, Yes, Kylie Jenner is pregnant. Yes, I'm excited but there are more important things to worry about. Bringing a child into the world is a glorious thing - I hope to one day experience this as well, but there are some very important things going in our world. Let's name a few: American soldiers are still in Middle-Eastern countries, natural disasters are growing daily and destroying homes, and athletes are protesting patriotism. Why are we hung up on this pregnancy? This might be bringing a glimmer of hope to our country, it's doubted but still worth a shot, we have bigger issues to deal with. American industry is falling daily and our political system is currently dying as the days go by. We need help. As happy as I am for Ms. Kylie...

Dear Mrs Kennedy and esteemed colleagues, As a Star Wars fan I cannot thank you enough for giving us so much more to celebrate and appreciate. I write this letter out of love for Star Wars, and from the bottom of my heart and I hope it finds you well. Now is a wonderful time to be a Star Wars fan - we get to have the originals and prequels, and now we are fortunate enough to look forward to the sequels and all the other new content that's being produced. The excitement over the announcement that Episode VII was in the making was massive! I would scour the internet for any information I could find (I still do) and it was such a blast to be part of this new incarnation of the franchise (it still is). However, I remember many a concerned Google search about the status of the prequel...

Hi my name is Donald Henny and this is the story of how Bruce Springsteen got to play my bass; My 1963 Fender precision bass. Mike Appel and I have been friends for over 50 years we played together in a band and Greenwich Village in 1965 call "The Balloon Farm". I thought the band was leaning to the commercial end of the business and I wanted to be more avant-garde so Mike and I parted ways. Then in the early 1970s Mike called me and asked me if he could borrow my bass guitar because he was doing a session with his new discovery Bruce Springsteen and needed some Punchy Bass lines for a few of the songs in the album. So I brought the bass over to 914 Studio on 9W I walked in told the receptionist who I was and was told to walk through the door of the studio. When I got inside and looked...

MR. TOM HIDDLESTON, PLEASE RESPECT OPHELIA Dear Mr. Hiddleston, I'm a girl that discovered you through the character of Loki and began to search for webpages and videos to know more about him and you. In some interviews I found that you said Loki "needs Prozac and a lot of therapy", "is a damaged psychopath", "is intelligent yet broken", "needs TLC". I took Prozac and went to a lot of therapists because of depression and anxiety and that really stunned and saddened me, because I felt my suffering publicly belittled and mocked through a character I wanted to love. Why "damaged psychopath"? To act upon anger, pain or ambition, to make wrong choices doesn't mean to be mentally ill. Why "intelligent yet broken"? Is "broken" synonym for "stupid"? You said...

Last year God revealed my purpose, so I am in the process of launching a career as a Cultural Inclusion Coach Consultant and Inspirational Social Change Speaker. I know without a doubt that this is my calling, because it was my career goal to become a psychologist, I studied for years and I was a year away from receiving my doctorate. That goal was put on hold indefinitely.  Moreover, I  suffer from anxiety and social anxiety, so pursuing a career in which public speaking is involved would not have been my choice, but God's plan overruled my own.   In the meantime, in order to launch my career, I need to seek those who will be willing to open doors that I am unable to access. Therefore, while conducting a Google search on starting my own business and other relevant information. I by...

Dear Walt Disney, Disneyland, a place that’s filled with joy, laughter, and known as the happiest place on earth. But, is it the happiest place if you end up being broke because you just spent $1000 on a pass? Since the day you created this land, more than 600 million guests have visited the resort. Last time we recorded, in 2012 averagely 44,000 visitors would come per day. I myself, have been a passholder for most of my life, 13 years exactly. Ever since I was a passholder, I enjoy your creativity and imagination: the fun attractions, thrilling rides, great parades with our favorite disney characters, and performances with booming fireworks. Disneyland is a place where I made fun memories with my friends and family. Sadly, this year is my first year not owning a pass, and I can...
