Dear Tom, First off, I want to say thank you. Thank you for ever coming to the University of Houston to begin with. Thank you for bringing a culture that is so much different than any other culture out there in collegiate sports. Thank you for believing in our school and our program even when so many others, the entire nation, doubted continuously about your decision to come here and about our team. Without you, the Coog Nation would not be where it is today. You have helped give us something to be proud of. Something to be able to get behind and support without any shame. You brought the 1-0 mentality, you created the HTownTakeOver. Thank you for that. Thank you for being one of the greatest coaches to ever step foot onto the UH campus. I will never forget the end of the 2014...

Dear school, well i have always felt that school should be a place that we should learn more about the things we want to be in the future but sometimes they talk about racism and things like that. not that racism isn’t important it’s just that we should be learning things that will helps us in the future. And sometimes in the middle of class teachers would stop class just to talk about their family and friends, there’s nothing wrong with that but there’s a place and time for that and the most common thing is homework teachers need to chill on homework. Sometimes teachers don’t get that we get a lot of homework from other classes. Sometimes teachers take most of the class time and give us homework the last minute that’s what gets students angry. The...

Dear Upper Arlington, As a preschooler, I loved school. I was a very happy go lucky child who loved toys and playing with other kids. No, my life wasn’t the easiest but let’s be honest, nobody has an “easy” life, plus my parents tried really hard to make my life as smooth as possible. Going to kindergarten was extremely exciting for me. My three older siblings were already in school, they were all there at the school to keep me safe and show me the way, and I was ready to start the adventure. “It’s gonna be great I’m so excited for you”, they’d tell me.Things were difficult with my Mom’s unfortunate health but we had some friends from our church group to lend a warm hand and a heavy heart to keep me and my siblings lives as “normal” as possible. Moving from the ghetto to one of the...

GO INTO THE HIGH SCHOOL FROM THE MIDDLE SCHOOL Dearest friend, How are you? And Hope that you are enjoying the summer? I know that you are in middle school so I want to tell you how I felt when I was going to the high school from middle school. When I Was coming to the high school from middle school I felt nervous. I wasn't nervous because I will be meeting new people but i was nervous because I was thinking about, how much harder will it be. The things that I felt is different in high school from middle school are, The friendship has changed I think this because in high school people get in to many thing and people have different choices. When I was in middle school I thought that in high school the lockers would be bigger than the middle school locker but when I came to high...

Dear U.S School board of Education, I use to love school. It was fun; I learned fractions with brownies and got to eat them afterwards; We dissected a frog in science class when learning about animals, We got to grow a plant when learning about photosynthesis. Learning was fun and useful. If i wanted to start a garden as a 10 year old, i could because i learned how to in school. In recess we got to run wild. The teachers never gave us homework and they made sure we understood the lesson before going on. Now, everything is different. School is soul sucking, tedious, and mind numbing. We don’t get recess because were,”too big” and it’s “not middle school anymore.” But what if High School kids needed recess to just be a kid again, to not worry about the 2 upcoming test for just 30...

Dear 8th Grade Spanish teacher , “ JENNIFER GET OUT!!!! ” You told me you were likeable. You told me you were easygoing. Then why kick a student out eager to learn. When you kicked me out we laughed. It was constantly, day after day month after month. Every time I would breathe It was;“Jennifer get out”!! I didn't even have the opportunity to learn in your class. Well no one did. My picture of a good teacher is one who can control a class. One who actually teaches. One who grasp the attention of students. One who shows that they care and have a passion for teaching. Teachers are suppose to correct students mistakes not give up on them. You used to say, ”You had your best interest for us and you also said you wanted the best for us but sadly your actions spoke otherwise.”...

Dear high school school dress code, You can be extremely strict at times. In most cases you don’t allow students to be themselves. You restrict us from wearing what we want, and most of the time you’re only ever targeted at the females. Sure, you say that it’s for everyone, but that’s not how it’s enforced. One of so many examples is one that made it all the way to The Huffington Post. It was when a group of around 30 girls was sent home one week for wearing something that you deemed “too revealing.” They were pulled out of class for having visible bra straps and sleeveless tops. “I was wearing a tank top but it covered everything except my shoulders, and they told me I had to either put on a sweater or go home and change because of my bra straps,” Amber Michelin-Jones, 17, told...

Dear haters of chemistry, I hear your complaints all over the place like for example that you have to write a lot in chemistry class and that if you want to get a degree in something that has to do with chemistry it takes so long like 4 to 5 years or something like that.I am going to tell you why chemistry works for me,but before i can tell you that i need to tell you why i started liking chemistry. So let's get started with my life story, just kidding, but really let’s get started, the first time i started chemistery was in 7th grade. At the begging i hated it because of my teacher and becasue everybody hated it,then in the seacond term of my 7th grade year i saw a video about chemistery and he did a lot of cool stuff, then i was like this is the same chemistery we’re talking...

I remember back when I loved school, I loved getting up in the morning, doing work, and trying my best. The best part was getting good grades and meeting new people. You could say school was my favorite place to be. A typical day would consist of me putting my Heelys on, then getting on the bus with the coolest bus driver ever, Mr. Steve. Mr. Steve would always put on the best music. He would tell us, “Stop jumping on the bumps!”. I always liked sitting with my friends at the breakfast table while talking about what we’re going to do for the day. We’d then rush to class trying to sit in the front row ready to learn. I always raised my hand to answer every question trying to be the best. During recess, which was the best part of the day, I'd run all day playing all the games with my...

How many of you are stressed out? I know I am. College applications are due right around the corner and if you are anything Like I am, you know you should start thinking about options of majors and where you will attend. But for most that isn't an option right now. Some of you may have your life together. Maybe your course schedule is not as rigorous or maybe its like mine, AP classes and nothing below a B. I aim for straight A's and I push myself in the hardest course I can take. All AP or honors and 3 college classes on top of that. I do it for my so called future, what my 12 years of schooling will determine. From the time I was little school has been #1 in my household, made a C, I was grounded. I was better than a C, better than average. At least that is what my parents...
