Dear People Who Take Pictures of Food With Instagram,
Just because the picture looks artsy doesn’t mean you are. I get it. We all went through our creative, experimental stages. There is a period in all of our lives where we think we can probably make money off our pseudo-artistic talent of choice. And now, you think you are a photographer because Instagram does the work for you. Do you have to focus anything? Do you have to worry about lighting? Do you have to think at all? Not really. You are part of a fast growing legion of people that have been duped into believing they are visionaries, auteurs, even.

Dear Ros,
Let me start with an apology on behalf of the pensions industry.
I suspect that some of my colleagues will have given you a less than warm welcome.
Your pro-consumer, pro-transparency agenda is viewed as dangerously radical by many of the pension world's big beasts, and your appointment clearly gives them the willies.
But I for one am delighted at the prospect of you using your new role to slash red tape and get more people saving into pensions.
So as Steve Webb settles into his post-Westminster life - and if there's any justice - a highly-paid consultancy for Lamborghini, here's my two-penneth on what I think you should seek to do in the role.
You've already said that you want to safeguard the pension freedoms that came into force last month.
I'd like to...

To The Managers in The Digital Industry,
I've been working for over 3 years now and this is my fourth manager.
Please understand that:
Experience comes from working for some time. It is not an inborn quality that people have.
Training the executives is IMPORTANT and MANDATORY.
You were an executive once. Don't put that past you when you gain some authority.
No one, and I mean no one, likes to be bullied or harassed.
Give respect. Get respect.
Give your employees some space to work and be creative.
There is a thin line between being in power and throwing your weight around just because you have the power. Executives are on a junior level and they might not understand it all. They definitely do not know as much as you do. If there is an executive who knows about...

Dear Secretary of State,
Although there are numerous positives to the Government's Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation (ECO), the Insulation Industry Forum, which represents more than 70% of the UK's £700m a year insulation industry is extremely concerned about the Government's plans for its implementation.
The withdrawal of the existing subsidies ahead of Green Deal Finance and ECO coming fully on stream will put 16,000 people out of work in the industry over the next year, with many jobs going before Christmas, the majority of which will be in loft insulation and cavity wall insulation.
The Government's own Impact Assessment shows that the loft and cavity wall insulation installation industry will fall off a cliff in 2013, even while assuming all necessary Green Deal and...

Dear Australian retail industry,
I've had enough of you.
I'm sick of your fortnightly catalogues offering the latest home wares to redecorate my home for spring, or winter, or whatever the next season may be. And don't forget the end of year silly seasons garlands you feel we must have.
And really, who needs Easter decorations? One of you retail giants reckon I should fill my house with paper chickens and bunnies in soft pastel colours for four days in April.
I mean, really? Who are these people that buy it? Is it that no one buys it and that's why it's on sale at the end of the four day weekend? 'Stock up for next year,' a sales assistant told me last year.
Please. Be. Joking.
And tell me, what is the point of kitchen utensils that are cheaper than a bus ticket? Anyone...

Dear Premier
Congratulations on your decisive and historic election victory. I wish you well in leading this amazing Province over the next several years.
I am sincerely reaching out to you in what I hope will be a productive dialogue, but want to make it clear that I am not generally supportive of NDP ideology.
My hope though, shared I think by many Albertans, is that your government will be ruled more by pragmatism than ideology. Past NDP governments in Saskatchewan have blazed this trail, and managed to keep a good relationship with industry which allowed robust investment and related employment growth. The key to this good relationship was stability, and earnest communication.
This is an area where I think I can help.
I am a representative example of "small oil". I am...

Dear Policy Makers,
As the European Commission is implementing its Digital Single Market Strategy including the pillar of maximising the growth potential of the digital economy; and as the music industry absorbs the United States Copyright Office's report on Copyright and the Music Marketplace, which covered "Licensing Efficiency and Transparency", and many other important policy makers around the world review copyright, and the copyright industries, we, The International Music Managers Forum (IMMF), a trade association representing artists and managers around the world would like to share our observations on some of the dysfunctionality of the music market.
Instead of mystery deals hidden from the artists whose copyrighted creations the deals exploit there should be an obligation...

Dear Mayor,
London is Europe's leading mega city. It has the opportunity to create an effective policy framework to address urban air quality whilst driving continued improvements in carbon emissions, mobility and industrial growth. The introduction of an Ultra Low Emission Zone in London from 2020, if implemented correctly, could set a precedent for other cities, not just in the UK but around the world – many of which face similar air quality challenges. This is why London has to get it right.
As an industry, we applaud your vision to make London the capital for low-emission vehicle technologies and mobility solutions. The proposed ULEZ will play a key role in driving the market for ultra low and zero emission capable vehicles in London that will deliver on both air quality and...

Dear Cotton Industry,
So you're a cotton farmer – what's most important to you? Sure, you want to make money and, sure, you want to provide for your family – you understand that. But what are you doing to understand your customers? You may say it doesn't matter, I can always ship into the loan, my coop will handle it, my local pool worries about customers.
Do you care about the market? What makes up your market? Your merchant or coop help to make up your market, certainly. But what about their customers, the textile mills? What affects their market and how does that market matter to you? You may say, I'm a farmer, not a textile mill. But a textile mill will say, he is your customer: You will pay attention or he'll buy from someone else. There's a lot of cotton out there. Why?...

Dear Secretary Jewell:
As members of Alaska's thriving business community, we are asking for your help in securing permanent protection for Bristol Bay and the southeast Bering Sea (North Aleutian Basin) from offshore oil and gas drilling and thereby protect the region's world-class fisheries.
We, along with all Alaskans, strongly support a diverse economy that provides for this and future generations. However, offshore drilling in this region is severely at odds with the sustainable economic opportunities and reliable revenue streams provided by the region's fisheries.
Our companies and commercial seafood associations ask you to recognize that the fisheries in and around the North Aleutian Basin are vital to the economic stability of the region and the Nation. These are the...
