Dear Demarai Gray,

If it is true that Leicester or any other side have activated your release clause, I, and I’m sure many other Blues fans, think you should seriously consider staying here at Blues.

You will be a regular member of the starting line-up, as the first point. How many young footballers, especially creative ones such as yourself, have moved too early and seen their career stall? You are a valued member of the first team squad here, which is more than can be guaranteed at a Premier League side. Not only that, but we are a side who appear to be on the up, and by staying you can help us become the side we were four years ago.

You’re loved by the fans, and you appear to have a genuine affinity for the club. There’s no substitute for loving the club to any fan, and we’ll be willing to stick with you if it isn’t quite going right. That might not be afforded to you elsewhere. You’re clearly rated by the staff too, especially Gary Rowett, who has spoken very highly of you in public and has continued to make you an integral part of his side.

Yes, maybe you will earn more money moving to the top division, but there is plenty of time to make that step up and if you time it right, you could be earning a lot more. If you continue to improve at the rate you have done, then a move to a top 6 club will not be out of the question in the next couple of seasons. I firmly believe that the circumstances at Birmingham are perfect for your development, and I hope you agree.

If you do decide to leave, I hope I speak on behalf of all Blues fans in wishing you the best for the future, and thank you for your services. You would be welcome back to St. Andrews any time.
