An Open Letter to those "Telling a Lady When She Is Nasty"

I have been writing letters in my head this entire political season. I have also been posting things on my Facebook feed, in protest to some of the horrible things that are being said and done out there. But today....today, I hit my limit. Today my newsfeed highlight was "GOP Congressman on Clinton: 'A lady needs to be told when she is being nasty'. And I am done. And I am speaking out. Hopefully on a large network.

There are so many different places you can start with this election, but let's start with the comment at hand. To be specific, when Donald Trump called Hilary Clinton a "nasty woman", she was not talking about anything nasty at all. She was discussing taxes. And raising taxes on people making over $250K. She referenced that Donald Trump would also have to pay more taxes, unless he found a loophole (which, let's be clear, he will.). So no, Mr. Trump, she wasn't being nasty, she was being smart and discussing what she would do in her job. And yes, Mr. Trump, you can DISAGREE with her on the policy, but you chose not to. You instead chose to equate Hilary's "intelligence and speaking her mind" with being nasty. This, this is a central issue for you and for all of your supporters.

She was not discussing grabbing women by the pussy (which, is NASTY), she was not inciting violence or suggesting violence, which you have done. She was just a woman, speaking her mind in an intelligent way. You have shown us time and again that you cannot stand an intelligent woman. Even your own daughter, who seems VERY intelligent, you have discussed on the radio as "being a piece of ass". You cannot even respect your own family. You have no ability to appreciate a woman's intelligence over her physical qualities. You, and every person who supports you.

You see, I have three daughters. They will all (hopefully) be smart but also outspoken. They need to be raised in a world where it's okay to be that way. They need to be raised in a world where people REVOLT at the idea of someone in leadership even uttering the words "grab them by the pussy" and calling THAT nasty, rather than millions of people STILL SUPPORTING THAT PERSON ON THE GROUNDS THAT THE SUPREME COURT IS MORE IMPORTANT. And you, and your supporters, do not foster that environment. I, myself, am a smart, successful, outspoken woman. I get the challenges that are involved in this world, at this time with having those qualities. I am given feedback all the time that I have to "be less aggressive". I have been hoping that it will be getting better for my children. Mr. Trump, you and your supporters, are working to make sure it isn't. You are working to make ensure that a woman is valued more for how she looks than for what she thinks.

I have "Facebook friends" who have said, with pride, that you cannot tell from their Facebook feed who they are supporting. My question to them is, why not??? And while I do not think its relevant to know who someone is supporting, I do believe in this election, it's VERY important to know who you are NOT supporting.

I am NOT supporting a man who is a racist. Who has made it completely okay to support a leader of the KKK. I have friends who are minorities and I want to make sure they know, I DO NOT SUPPORT that. I do NOT support a man that is a sexual predator to women. I would not work for a company with a leader like that, I would not work for a manager who acted that way (and in fact, based on sexual harassment laws, he would likely be fired anyhow). Why would I want my country to be led by a man like this? I would not go to a party with a person so vile there. And so no, I do not want to be friends with you people who, by your silence, are not rejecting Donald Trump and his nastiness.

I have said time and again that I am not nearly so bothered that Donald Trump is running, I am much more bothered by the millions of supporters he clearly has. And today was no exception.

So Mr. GOP, you go ahead and "tell a lady when she is being nasty". But then you better have the balls to call out a man when he is being nasty, vile, sexist, racist and utterly obscene. Oh wait, you don't have those, now do you?
